‘Response’ & ‘Ability’

Many people spend valuable time blaming others for their shortfalls. Granted, some people might have done some shitty things to you in your life, but you can’t make them accountable… that’s up to them. Even if they are punished, it’s still up to them to own up to the things they have done.

Ultimately, if you want to grow you have to hold yourself accountable for/to your actions, regardless of what other people have done.

You have to choose to take responsibility, but not in the way that you might know it. Responsibility can be broken up into two areas ‘response’ and ‘ability’. So let’s say you’ve got some work to do but your ‘ability’ is low… you need to decide how you will ‘respond’ to that.

TODAY’S MISSION: Set up your accountability mirror

Write all your insecurities, dreams, and goals on Post-Its and put them on the mirror you look at every morning. You will use this accountability mirror to remind yourself of your mission each morning.

If you are trying to lose weight, your first Post-It may be to lose two pounds in the first week. Once that goal is achieved, remove the note and post the next goal of two to five pounds until your ultimate goal is realised.
