Tailored speaking engagements

Shayne is a consultant, workforce trainer, real talk coach, creative and motivational speaker who values the exploration of resistance and self-determination in the face of adversity.

Shayne takes his hard earned knowledge of both overcoming harsh disadvantage and leading projects and practice that ignites potential, intrinsic motivation and capabilities in the most complex and challenging youth work, social work and community service environments, empowering people to be their best selves, especially when challenged.

Shayne learned the value of survival at an early age growing up in an environment of intense family violence, addiction, neglect and fear. A young man, desperate for power and connection, Shayne found himself connected to street gangs and criminality.

‘Witnessing the constant devastation in my family and immediate community, led me to craft a ‘drama free’ life of resilience, purpose and gratitude. I did it the real way. No cheesy self-help agenda. Just raw, real and practical.’

Tattooed on his arms are the words ‘comfort and chaos’. A constant reminder of Shayne’s inherent ability to ignite connection, motivation and a positive narratives to emotionally driven spaces.

‘I’ve never met anyone who has pulled themselves out of the trenches, that doesn’t have a story worth telling. Every single one of them set a goal and were punched and kicked all the way to the finish line and that’s what makes their stories so powerful’.

‘Sit together in challenge, stand together in strength’.

Shayne was a highly engaging facilitator who kept the room’s attention. The way in which Shayne drew on his professional experience to present real life examples really engaged the participants and I know that I will incorporate the learnings in our work with children, young people, families and individuals
